Buyer Critiques
This rangefinder is my very first and despite the fact that I do not have something to compare it with, it is pretty fantastic.
I am not a hunter, and only bought this range finder mainly because of the cost, which I will get to later.
I live in Hershey PA and the Cabela's in Reading PA is a location I routinely meet my brother when we drop off every single others children to stay with every other individuals household when they have school breaks, as was the case this past Thanksgiving.
As me and the children waited for my routinely late brother, we walked through the shop to see if there was anything we could devote a $25.00 gift card my wife won at a nearby casino. My sport of alternative is Golf, and Caleba's does not have substantially of a selection on golf gear. (they have absolutely nothing!)
Whereas passing the hunting section I noticed the Optical section and saw the Simmons LRF 600 was on sale for $99.00 with a mail in rebate. Just after testing it out in the shop, I figured what the heck, if it could choose up deer from 200 yds as it stated, it maybe useful on the course.
So, with my $25.00 gift card, and $25.00 for opening a Cabela's credit card and the $25.00 rebate Simmons was supplying, I spent a whopping $25.00 for the unit. (At that cost I wasn't pretty concerned if it worked or not on the course, I figured if it didn't operate, I would just give to 1 of my buddies who does hunt)
With the Hershey Country Club only 5 minutes from my residence, I took it out last week to see how it worked.
Jumping on the course was no dilemma considering that it was suitable about 27 degrees with a slight breeze and overcast, so there was no one out there.
I started out at one of the greens noticing the pin was approximately two yards from the center and walked back into the fairway. Hershey CC, is particularly well marked with yardage markers that will show center of the green distance. Initial marker I found was at 38yds, looked through the range finder at the flag that was outstretched mainly because of the breeze, hit the button once, and it read extremely speedily 36yds. Identified subsequent markers at 68yds and 100yds both 1 push of the button and each came back with 2yds off. I moved back to the 150yd marker and even though it first picked up the trees behind the green, by the 3rd push (Perhaps 5 seconds) I got a reading on the flag of 148yds.
Went back to 200yds, and once again, just after choosing up the trees, and pushing the button five-6 instances, it read 199yds.
At this time, I'm pleased with the unit. But, I've read evaluations on other rangefinders and guys are saying it does not pick up the flag at 200yds. I'm a strong 9 handicap, and if your shooting at the pin at 200yds or beyond, quit your day job and get oneself on the PGA tour!
For me, I am content to hit the center of the green at 200yds or beyond, and you can laser in the lip of the greenside bunker or a tree close to the green to get an approximate distance if no yardage markers are on the market.
I want to know exactly where the pin is from 150yd in, and really want to get precise distance from 130yds in, when hitting wedge or 9 iron. This range finder is fantastic for that!
Once more, this is the first range finder I've ever owned, but from my on course tests I think it is going to be a substantial support on the course. Not that I was all that bad estimating yardage, but this will just confirm what I'm thinking and give me the confident to hit the chosen club.
And once more, not a hunter and not sure how far out you can shoot a deer, but if I was in a position to pick up a waving flag at 200yds, I have to think it will do the exact same from that distance with a deer.
Hope this helps.
For the Cost I would have to say this Range Finder is Top Notch. I have played aroud with other a great deal more high-priced brands that did not even come close to getting as clear and user friendly as this 1.
